4. Neds- An old term referring to pigs, but since onof the food stays of the U.S. Army was pork the name was also given to them. The term grew to include anyone connected to the government

. 5. Bobbled the Buffaloe Chip-Making a mistake

6. Pelt- The skin fo a fur bearing animal

7. Green Frog Pelt- Money

8. Waugh!- The war cry of the Grizzly Bear, used a s a term of astonishment. Waugh! He must have been 10 feet tall.

9. Sinew- The fiberous muscle covering found backs and legs of animals. Used a sewing thread.

10. Putrified Forrest- A place where all the trees have turned to stone. Like that place in Arizona.

11. Putrified Dinosaur Sinew- A wire fense, possibly made from the sinew of putrified animal in the putrified forest.

12. Own Yer Own Hook-To do things by yerself.

13. Hair of the Bear- If a man is said to have the Hair of the Bear, he is brave, tough, and does not flintch from pain, danger,or hardship but takes it all in stride, without complaint.

14. The Bark on- He has the Bark on, a person ruff and tuff as the bark of a tree.

15. Medicine- Anything of magic, mystic or supernatural power.

16. Medicine Water- Whiskey, rum, or other alcoholic spirits

21. Up to Beaver, or up to Trap- Is said of a man who had learned the mountain skills of survival and trap'in, to be trusted out on his own, is up to mountain standards.

23. Fooferaw- Mountain slang of the French word fan far on, a word used to describe the bobbles, dangles, an pretties given to or traded with indian women, mirrors, combs, brushes, clothe, beads, ect.

25. Hand Blower; A young women or wayward wife who would sneak out at night, forms her hands into a whistle and blow, her lover would follow the whistle through the dark to a suitable meeting place. Each couple would have it's own pre-arranged signal so the man would not follow the wrong woman and parents or husbands would now which hand blower to follow.
