Yellow Owl Clover
Orthocarpus luteus Nutt.

An annual herb of slender growth habit, usually about 8" in height.with small yellow flowers arranged in spikes. Leaves are small, lance-shaped and are crowded along the tops of the stems. Commonly found on dry prairie grassland, blooms in mid summer.  Starts growth in May, flowering in July and August. It commonly grows on dry meadows and upland prairie, sometimes found in open woodlands. Owl clover occurs mainly in the northern and western regions of the Great Plains and throughout the Western U.S.   It is found at elevation range: 1,450 to 2,940 meters ,
